Hello there! My name is McKenna Martin, the co-founder of Ringvente. Ringvente's story begins with unexpected love. Unexpected love because two best friends transform into soulmates. We met freshman year of college and instantly becoming friends. We did not have any intentions of getting together, in fact we remained just close friends through those four years of our design bachelors. It was not until after graduation that realized how much we meant to each other. 

Joao likes to describe the start of our relationship as a “light switch” because we were so oblivious to our feelings towards each other. We did not even register to question the possibility of us becoming more until after we graduated. Some would call it a nearly missed opportunity. The odds of us becoming a couple were delayed but they were definitely on our side.

We had dove so deep into our friend zone during college that after traveling throughout Europe and Brazil together, sharing an apartment, and raising our lovely cat Pumpkin, we had no idea we would end up married some short years later.  Nor did our friends! Many thought we were joking when we shared with them that we were dating.

With the delay of our “light switch” moment, like many people in our generation we tried online dating! We would share about our dates and the qualities we were looking for from a partner. Failing to notices we were describing one another. As we continued to travel to see each other we started to notice that our search for our respective partners was over before it even started.

Fast forward a few months and a kiss on Halloween night instantly confirmed that we had found our forever partner in each other. 

During the Holidays of the following year, Joao and I got engaged during a trip we did to Brazil. After the proposal, Joao finally shared with me about the extensive process behind creating my engagement ring and how excited he was to have had the chance to design a unique ring that reflected our story and personality.

Upon returning home and meeting with friends, we constantly kept getting attention about the design of my ring. This naturally led to requests from friends that were also interested in creating custom designs for their engagement rings. We both have a creative arts background, and were very interested in inventing new ring designs. Friends spoke to us about the lack of transparency and pressure that comes with buying an engagement ring. We want more than to design their forever treasure but offer an experience tailored to who they are. We wanted designing jewelry to be an explorational experience and shopping to be fun again!

This lead us to our second “light switch” moment. The idea of materialize our interest and dreams of jewelry design and experiences lead to Ringvetne. A revolutionary business that enables people to project their own story and individuality through an online platform that instantly lets them visualize their one-of-a-kind jewelry creations. 

Fast forward to the Fall of 2021, we are very grateful for all the feats Ringvente has been able to achieve so far and hope to continue to push the boundaries for custom jewelry moving forward.
